After launching in 1996, Hour Detroit quickly became one of the most prominent city magazines in the United States. Renowned for the premium it places on quality journalism and design, Hour Media’s flagship magazine redefined publishing in metro Detroit.

In the years that followed, Hour Media continued to launch award-winning titles centered on Motor City culture — from luxe publications like Detroit Design, to high-end business journals like DBusiness, to popular resources like Hour Detroit’s Metropolitan Detroit Guest Guide. Hour Media also expanded into hosting events, parties, festivals, and award shows that complemented our brands. For decades, our world-class events team has set a new standard for luxury, class, and entertainment in the consumer space.

This became the model that Hour Media ignited in markets across the country as we acquired new and historic brands such as Atlanta magazine, Cincinnati magazine, Minnesota Monthly, Florida Design, and over 100 others. In addition, we acquired a full-service digital marketing agency (Compass Media), built an industry research arm (Professional Research Services), established our Custom Publishing department, and added an in-house video content studio (Hour City Studios).

Today, Hour Media is a multimedia production company and the largest publisher of city and regional magazines in the United States, and it has received numerous awards from respected industry organizations such as Folio and the City and Regional Magazine Association.
